I was inspired by blueberries yesterday and thought I should find one that actual calls for blueberries. While I will always be a fan of my favorite blueberry muffin recipe from some time ago (See ) I think these certainly look… interesting. I’m often wary of cornbread or cornmeal based muffins but I think that a little extra texture in a breakfast food can be good for you. It’s like giving your mouth a little tasting exercise to get it started for the day.
I like to keep something flavorful at my desk throughout the day. Whether it’s something to drink (coffee or tea) in the mornings or some sort of fruity candy or new kind of chocolate covered nut (so far my absolute favorites are the dark chocolate, cocoa dusted, almonds I can get around the corner at Whole Foods) I’m a fan of texture and flavor. So maybe these would be a good start to that day. Plus I feel like people won’t hate me for bringing them into the office. Anything that looks like it might be remotely unhealthy doesn’t seem to go over.

“Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake” from Alexandra’s Kitchen
Like my Friday, Sunday is a pretty lazy occasion. So making this on Saturday night would be simple and would also mean that if we happen to have guests that have stayed the night, they won’t need to starve while I sit around enjoying my Sunday morning cup of freshly ground Mayorga’s coffee. I’ve had a friend stay over two weekends in a row now and she wakes up early and I don’t like eating when i first wake up so poor thing just sits there starving without telling me. But, if I have this “Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake from alexandra’s kitchen all prepared I can just stick it in the oven while we watch cartoons and she attempts to teach me the art of crocheting. I’m really not very good at it but I like having something to do with my hands and the cross stitching patterns at the craft store were really and truly awful.

So I’m doing my usual perusal of the internet and I saw this gorgeous bit of gastroporn. They look so nice and I was instantly like : “I should make those!” Then I saw they were gluten free and was like : “I should still make those!”
Then I saw the ingredient list and was all like : “Yeah I’m not going to make those.” Too many ingredients that I will not be using ever again.
